I am trying to sync a character on my account, Malbeth, and it tells me I don[t have a game running. I do have EQ running at the moment and Malbeth is logged in.

Same problem for me right now. I tried to close and launch back multiple time etc, magelo says no game is running.
Magelo doesn't seem to have been updated of the April patch, but I don't know if this is the reason of this "no game running" error.

I am getting an error that says "You don't have any game running right now. Choose the game you want to launch." And I have EQ running.

Ya I had to disable the game module temporarily to prevent anyone from syncing bogus data. Please restart Magelo Sync and you should be able to sync your characters now.

Mine finds the game but sits at the "trying to find character" part.
