Hi

Just installed this. Had some Java problems initially, but after some reading I used the other MageloSync.exe file instead of the 64 bit version. That got MageloSync to open and get setup. Then after I logged in my characters I get the "MageloSync is trying to detect your currently logged character" message in the main window of MageloSync. Can you help me out please? I have included my log for your perusal.

Another question for you. What if your a multi boxer? Can I just switch characters on screen and then re sync with the new character?

Anyways thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi,

Let's try to simplify a bit the problem. Can you run only 1 instance of the game and then start Magelo Sync ?

But I believe the issue is with your JRE and using MageloSync.exe instead of MageloSync64.exe

You should have the Java JRE 64bits and you should run MageloSync64.exe.

I will repackage Magelo Sync soon without the 32bit version which is not useful anymore given EQ game is now a 64bit program, this should help clear up the confusion...

The reason for using the non 64 bit version was because that one had a JRE problem. I did some reading on it and the consensus here was to use the non 64 bit version. I looked at my Java app and it said it was up to date. The non 64 bit version worked and allowed me to setup MageloSync.

As to running just 1 toon, well I didn't try that before I contacted you. Duh! I will give that a shot sometime today and get back with you on the results.

Thanks for responding

Palondar.

Regarding the JRE, make sure it is a java 8 JRE, and try again with java 8 64bits JRE and MageloSync64.exe.

This is what I use to test everything and it is working fine on my side. Let me know how it goes.

Ok after further research, I changed the following:

1. Checked my version of Java since this seems to be the most common fix. Mine was updated to version 1.8

2. I inserted JAVA_HOME in Environment Variables and defined the path to C:\Program Files(x86)\Java\jdk1.8\bin.

3. Just to cover all the bases I also created a JAVA_HOME variable with the path to the same path as above.

4. In the System Variables section I amended the "Path" to include C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre-1.8\bin.

5. When I type "where java" at a Command Prompt it comes back and tells me that :C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre-1.8\bin is the path.

6. And still the 64 bit version comes up with the same error code and won't start.

I saw some mention of installing a Java JDK pack? Can't remember the real name from last night lol.

Also as to your suggestion of trying to run just one EQ instance and try to get MageloSync to see that toon, it didn't work, like before. But again, that is using the 32 bit version.

Hoping you can come up with some further suggestions cause I am about to to do the proverbial "throw this damn PC out the window" thing.

Been a week since my latest post here, just wondering if you came up with anything to help me fix this problem?

Thanks in advance

Well thanks for the effort anyways. It wasn't something that was necessary anyways.

You can close this out now.

Sorry got pretty busy.
Like I said, don't deal with the 32bit version at all. When you install the 64bit version of Java, it should go in "C:\Program Files" not in ":\Program Files(x86)" which is a sign you are dealing with the 32bit flavor.

So recommended steps:
  • Uninstall JRE / JDK 32bit
  • Remove the env variables you created (JAVA_HOME)
  • Install 64bit JRE 8
  • Start Magelo Sync with mageloSync64.exe
